he's bigger than Ike. He's younger than Ike. He played well against
Stanford (who has a very good front line, at least by NCAA standards).
My concern about Ike is that he disappeared for the first five or six
years of his pro career, due in large part to weight and knee problems.
I think many NBA execs are worried about what will happen to Ike after
they (pardon the cliche) show him the money. Could he turn out to be a
bigger version of Chris Childs?
Is there any other big man you'd rather see the Celts get? I'm not
sold on Geiger -- his chief talent seems to be disabling his
opposite number. There seems to be a lot of enthusiasm on the list for
Michael Stewart. I'm not sure why. The guy did have a great game
against Patrick Ewing, and he's putting up decent numbers for a guy who
came from nowhere. But didn't we shell out for Travis Knight on the
same theory last year? Is Stewart measurably better than DeClerq?
Instead of having three undersized centers (four when Pervis is
healthy), I'd rather land a real one. Wouldn't it be great to have a
"green team" featuring DeClerq, McCarty and Bowen swarming on D, with
Barros bombing away from the perimeter?
