re:cheerleaders

  I don't want a "game experience". I don't want to listen to "Y.M.C.A". I don't
want to hear phony amplified calls for "dee-fense" or hear music riffs
while the ball is in play. I don't want to be programmed by the slick
consultants who want to make the N.B.A game presentation tacky and garish
and even worse, uniform around the league. Let the yokels whose teams never
won anything enjoy "Hooterville". Basketball fans around here did fine for
years with a little organ music. In the Sidney Wicks, Curtis Rowe dog days,
they tried to have cheerleaders dressed up like leprechauns. It went over
like an O.J. appreciation day at a N.O.W. convention. Sign some real
Ballplayers, not listless mercenaries and just win baby! The Fleet will be
full every night , you'll save money on the superfluous B.S, your fans will
appreciate it, and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that you didn't
contribute to the cultural decline of the nation.

Long live the "game presentation" of the Boston Garden !
