NBA Notes 6/2 - Miscellanious Stuff

             Impressive Pat Garrity

According to Craig Daniels of the Toronto Sun, the Raptors were impressed with
Pat Garrity when he attended the team's workout in May. They liked his shooting,
conditioning (this will earn him bonus points from Pitino), and his court sense.

Toronto officials also liked Ansu Sesay from Mississippi, and "proclaimed" him to be
a small forward in the Pros. Sesay is expected to be drafted anywhere from the
middle to the late first round, but his stock may be rising slightly, because in the
team workouts, he's showcasing a more consistent outside shot.

                   Mitch Lawrence On Michael Olowokandi

"The U of Pacific product sounds like 'Ripley's Believe It or Not' entry: He's legit
7-footer, 270-pounds, bench presses 350, leg presses 1,200 and has 7-10 wingspan.
His people claim he's got all the low-post moves, despite playing only 55 games.

"He also holds England high school records (the son of a Nigerian diplomat, he went
to London schools from ages 14 to 20) in long and triple jumps."

Sounds like he'd be great manning the middle for the C's, and Vancouver would
probably trade him to Boston for Ron Mercer, since they're planning to draft a
Mercer-type in Paul Pierce. And at least Mercer has already proven he can be a big
time contributor at the NBA level. The same, can not be said of Paul Pierce, yet.
Of course, that applies to Olowokandi too!

               Toronto Trade Rumor

Frank Zicarelli of the Toronto Sun says, that one trade rumor that refuses to go away
is Toronto trading up to Vancouver's spot so they can select Olowokandi. Along with
their draft choice, Toronto would give up Doug Christie.

Zicarelli in last Friday's Sun, also mentioned that Toronto was pleased with Brian
Skinner, the 6-11 center from Baylor, who Toronto had in for a workout: "The Raptors,
for one, like his ability to run the floor, his interior presence and ability to
block shots."

If the C's drop down in the draft, he's obviously someone they would consider, even
if his offensive skills are sorely lacking.
