I think it's a well known fact that officials have been protecting the
STARS by giving fouls to any other player in close proximity. Seems like
the Celtics are an exception to that rule though. Borgia's problem was
that he admitted to it instead of just walking away as they generally do.

Let the fans decide who the stars are, not the NBA.

I agree Dorine, but then look what the fans do when it comes to the
ALL-STAR vote. It's ludicrous for Scottie Pippen to be in the game, much
less to start. And though I have much respect for Kobe's game, what
about Stockton, Richmond, Marbury etc.? All of whom start, and log
considerably more minutes than he does?

This is the exact point I keep rehashing. It will take time for him to
develop the skills required to make him an ALL-STAR. But for those who
are willing to be patient and allow him to take his baptismal lumps, it
will pay off down the road for sure. RP has laid a very solid foundation
for the future with Walker, Mercer and Billups. Billups got mugged by Mookie
last night on a drive and made the shot, but should've had the
opportunity to complete the 3 pt play. People keep clamoring for a
shot-blocker but our primary need is for someone who can control the
defensive boards. Players like Camby and Joe Smith don't do that, but
will come up with a few blocks which they swat out of bounds giving the
opposition a chance to score as they retain possession. The real art
is shot-deflecting ala, Bill Russell, where your team is in position to
grab the ball and start the break.
