And you snipped my post, changing what I seemed to be saying, by eliminating
the central point. Which was NOT just that people say to make excuses for
him because he's young. The part you snipped said that I had a problem with
people saying to simultaneously make allowances for him and brush off his
questionable actions because he's young and still developing but pay him as
if that wan't the case, and he was a mature sure thing. That's not what
Pitino said, either.

I've no problem, to a degree, with making allowances for his age. It's a
valid point. But his immaturity is not just chronological, and if it's a
valid point in accounting for his behavior, then it's a valid point in
deciding whether he's worth locking that much money and cap space up in. 

He may very well grow out of it. Some do, as you and Pitino point out, but
more don't. For every Mark Jackson, there are several Todd Days. And while I
agree that Pitino certainly knows him much better than I ever will, it's
been pointed out here before how unsafe it is to take anything Pitino says
for public consumption at face value.
