The Bitter End

The worst Celtics' season ever came to an end today in suitably ugly
fashion. On Sportchannel, Mike and Tommy largely ignored the "action" to
discuss the future. For what it's worth, these are the most notable of
Tommy's comments that I remember:

- --He repeated his suggestion that the Celts trade down with the Dallas
pick, contingent on the other team taking Dee Brown.

- --He had several bad things to say about Larry Brown, especially: if
Brown were to coach the Celts, he'd turn them back into a walk-it-up
team. Tommy also criticized (!) Chris Ford for "mouthing the words" that
he wanted a running team, but never developing that style.

- --If the Celts get Duncan and another good player in the draft, the fans
will make the mistake of immediately expecting the team to be
competitive, i.e. win half their games. "And you know how irrational
fans can be," he said. ("Irrational"--that from the man who still thinks
Acie Earl is a player.)
