Daltrey's Odd ICE Baby

Anyone else ever wonder why, at the end of "I Can't Explain," Daltrey
usually always sings, "I said I can't explain yeah, baby, yay!"

He adds that extra "yay" sound which makes it sound like there's some
kind of weird vocal edit on the word "baby."  But he does it nearly
every time, so it's not an edit.

It's like a little yelp that doesn't quite fit.  I wonder why he does
that?
