Re: To Album or Not to Album.....

My first reaction is to say "No new Who album!" Making an album &
calling themselves The Who just seems too fucked up.

The tour was/is great & they showed courage by going on but after
it's over I think they should just leave it. I wouldn't be upset.
I'm not *that* desperate for new studio Who songs after John's death.

Pete would have to come up with some of the greatest songs of his
entire writing career for this supposed album to even be taken ser-
iously by fans & critics. And I'm not sure he's capable of that.

When John was alive, the biggest selling point for a new album was
getting TED back together in the studio. Now, trying to come up with
a new batch of songs, marketing a new album, etc., just to reunite,
so to speak, Roger & Pete in the studio seems almost pointless & "too
little too late."

Odd that I really don't see a conflict with DT doing live shows in the
future - that somehow seems reasonable. But a new studio album seems
almost too risky & needless.

My gut feeling says - just leave it.

On a positive note, a friend of mine who saw the Columbus show thought
they were outstanding. I saw him last weekend & was expecting a bad
review from him. He's a local radio DJ & got free tickets through his
station. He's also somewhat sarcastic & cynical & mostly into Van Halen
& the like. So when he told me that The Who were great & Townshend, es-
pecially, blew him away, I was pleasantly surprised.

He did get a few jabs in on their decision to continue the tour so quick-
ly after John died - but he couldn't make light of their performance.
