UK vs. US attitudes

I've been reading alt.music.who again, and it looks to me like the residents 
are considering an activity for after the RAH concerts.  Looks like the 
invitation is for a bare-knuckle encounter.  Has anybody heard if Fang is 
going?

Regarding recent comments about audiophiles, I suspect that O&S is no longer 
a fun place to conduct this kind of disucssion, so it's moved to 
alt.music.who.  Meanwhile, I seem to recall someone detailing a difference 
between UK and US attitudes in such things.  Was it to the effect that UK 
residents tend to be very polite in written correspondence, and less polite 
face-to-face, and that the opposite is true of Americans?
