Pete is possessive, that's why.  Notice that Gene and the boys are bringing 
in outside talent to do the show for them, and it may or may not even 
include Kiss songs.  That sounds like they're only licensing the Kiss brand 
name for some sort of joint venture.  Wonder who's backing the show?

Meanwhile, Pete wants to use his own songs and he wants to write the book 
and he wants to have the fun of doing it and seeing the name "Pete 
Townshend's (oh, yeah--and The Who's) QUADROPHENIA" up there in the lights 
and he's damn sure not going to let anybody else have any control of it.  
This has the advantage of artistic integrity, of course, but the 
disadvantage of making investors difficult to find who are willing to accept 
the terms.
