Beatles/Kinks/Who

People,

I have to say this is quite fun and interesting talking about all of this
influence stuff. From looking at my Kinks CD's, it says that You Really
Got Me was released in August of 1964. Does anybody know how long it took
for this song to break and become popular?

Also, something which no one has touched upon. Is it possible that at
some rehearsal months before Lennon set his guitar down, heard the
feedback, liked it, but was just waiting for the right song to put it on?
I'm not trying to put down other people's influences, I'm just saying that
theoretically it is possible for Lennon to have thought up this feedback
deal.

I'd also just like to say that the riff at the beginning of I Feel Fine is
great! I was just listening to Live at the BBC to that song and I think
Harrison does a great job on it...

It's interesting though how this feedback at the beginning of I Feel Fine
seems to me to be so small compared to Who songs like Anyway, Anyhow,
Anywhere. It seems to prove that the Beatles just thought that this new
thing was kind of cool where the Who had actually integrated it into their
performances.
