Song Writers and other issues

Obviously Buddy Holly, the BBs and Bill Haley came first. But they didn't
create the avalanche that came with the British Invasion.

Growing up in and around Detroit I was thinking more along the lines of
Motown. I believe it is generally agreed that Motown suffered the most once
the British boys started coming.

Regarding PT and Moon playing while the "other" band was a bar band. The
point I was trying to make was if the first band didn't have a "mega success"
quite possibly none of them would.

On the same issue: It is my understanding that PT and JE were school mates
and JE eventally brought PT into a band where Roger was playing lead guitar.

During a gig Moonie was in the audience claiming he was a better drummer than
the one JE and PT were currently using.(definitely has a ring of truth to
it). They brought him out of the audience and the rest is history.

If anyone out there knows if this is factual information I would be
interested in knowing the truth.

Regarding Roger being used by PT. What do all you Roger fans think? I'd
like to know in what way he was feeling used. It's my understanding that
Roger felt for a long time he was going to be dismissed from the band.

I also read that right after they recorded ICE he was gone from the band for
a while. But once it became a hit they brought him right back.

If they were The Who with MR. Jones than I suppose they would still be The
Who if they put out a new album. However, NEVER TO BE TAKEN AWAY seems to
keep coming to my mind when discussing the real "me" Who. The epitamy of on
the edge rock and roll. Personally I could watch him play and for a moment
forget the other three were out there. Then all of a sudden look around and
see a flying mike and a windmill machine and know this was not your normal
night. Meanwhile in the corner the longest bass guitar in history was
playing the loudest bass in history.
There would be so much going on you wouldn't know where to look next.

Those concerts will always be among the most memorable nights of my life.
That's why I subscribe to this site and no one else's.

I always thought it would be nice to have a little closing phrase like some
of the others I like on the list. But I couldn't think of one with some
meaning to me that might mean something to someone else as well. I think I
came across one during this writing I might use for a while.

Take Care,

     J.
