Trust me, nobody wants to "lose" money on a tour. It's like paying people to
come see you. Artists lose money on tours (short version) because of a) the
budgeted amount of people per show weren't realized or b) their expenses
weren't in line with their revenues.

Sometimes they have to "invest" (new artist) in the a) scenario and hopefully
if they keep plugging, they'll make it. However, an established artist (like
Pete) who can sell tickets with no problem, didn't put a budget together
correctly and carelessly overspent, causing a deficit...
