First of all, many thanks for maintaining and upgrading this list.  I'm sure
it must be a thankless job. I would like to ask a question:  

Through the past year that I have been on the list, there have been many
off-topic, non-Who posts.  Some have been thoughtful, civil, etc.  Some have
been insulting, hurtful, and venomous (pun intended).  I have often wished
that you would remind certain parties to keep things on-topic, but you never
did.  Why does a political thread warrant such an admonishment?
