Quad "reissue" -- NO LINER NOTES!!!!

Astley & Co. have already decided to rip us off by not including any bonus
tracks on the Quad reissue, but to add insult to injury, they didn't bother
to include any liner notes either (other than what came with the original
release). Leave it to Astley to take an extraordinary album and turn it
into a depressingly ordinary reissue. At this rate, Who by Numbers and Who
Are You will probably have crappy four panel inserts and Face Dances and
It's Hard will probably come in a brown paper bag (if they're reissued at
all). Seriously, as originally conceived, the Who reissues had three key
selling points. First, they were going to feature substantially improved
sound quality, generally achieved by going back to the multitracks and
remixing the material from scratch. Second, they were going to feature
substantially improved packaging, with not only all the original artwork
but also additional photos and new liner notes. Third, they were going to
feature bonus tracks. With the Quadrophenia reissue, the last two of these
have gone out the window. We all know (though I still have trouble
understanding) why Astley chose to screw us with the bonus tracks but
there's absolutely no reason for failing to include new liner notes and
photos from the Quad period (perhaps he was so entranced by the new mix
that he simply forgot). At a retail price of $31.99, I expect a hell of a
lot more than why they've given us. Someone really oughtta take Astley out
back and slap him around for a while. Perhaps he'll come to his senses.
