Tommy soundtrack highend

I pulled out my Tommy movie soundtrack this weekend.
Is it me, or do the cymbals all sound highly compressed a lot so they
sound really strange? You can really notice this on headphones.

Maybe it's because of the Quadrophonic-way that the soundtrack
was recorded and mixed. Hurmmm..

I was also thinking how nice it would be to take out the vocals
of the people who can't sing on this thing (Jack Nicholson, Oliver Reed).
Some of the music on this is really great, especially the guitar interlude
in "1951/What About the Boy?" Very bluesy and cool.....

Any word on the Tommy CDROM?
