Re: Who's next again

Hi,

John:

I've always had the impression that after the Lifehouse project flopped
The Who or Glyn Johns or whoever just filled up an LP with what they
thought was best from the Lifehouse sessions with no great regard for
creating or maintaining a "Who's Next" look and feel. I've never
really thought about "Who's Next" in any other terms than as a subset
of the Lifehouse songs.

If they were trying to maintain some sort of musical or
thematic continuity on the album how does "My Wife" fit in?
>>>>>>>

OK, this discussion is getting confusing. I think that's my fault, but what
I'm trying to say is that _I_ would like to separate "Who's Next" from Lifehouse
as two different things although they do contain _much_ of the same music.

I don't think that extending "Who's Next" will be like recreating the Lifehouse
concept, besides "Who's Next" is good as it is. And I read in the "catalog
overhaul" info (that you typed in John....?), that these extra tracks would
be available elsewhere too. (I wonder where?) This way I won't have to buy
the new "Who's Next".

I _do_ think that Glyn Johns was trying to create a "Who's Next" feel in that
he chose the songs on musical merit. That's why "My Wife" fits in there. It
wouldn't fit into Lifehouse I'm sure.

I think "Who's Next" is perhaps the best record of all time, that's why I
worry a bit about the changes. I'd like to point out that neither "Penny
Lane" nor "Strawberry Fields" was added to "Sgt. Peppers..." when _it_ was
released on CD in the mideightes, and rightly so. I feel that "Who's Next"
is my "Sgt. Peppers...", ... sort of.

er....., less confusing? Well, maybe not. I'll stop here.
