This is what I consider to be the biggest error people make in talking about
trading him -this harping on getting equal value. You don't look to get
equal value, you look to improve your team. They are not the same thing at
all. If you feel that the downside of AW is more destructive than the upside
is beneficial, and you can fill other needs on your team that will make the
team better, then a trade makes sense. Even if you do not get equal value
for AWs talents in return. If it does not improve your team in any way, or
not improve it enough to be worth the intangibles -like the message it sends
to prospective FA- then it makes no sense to trade him even if you do get an
equal value player in return.
