gotta wonder.

A theory:  the high expectations and rightly gushing reviews of the 2000
shows is a self-perpetuating thing.  The best comparison I can draw is
people going to a comedy club.  You go into it expecting laughs, and you
pay to laugh dammit.  I think that many people laugh in this situation
despite the fact that what they are hearing is not amusing.  In other
words, the great Who reviews and discussion (such as on this list and in
the press) serves a a kind of laugh track for the tour.  It encourages
people who are attending shows to go in expecting to be blown away, given
the buzz and fact that we are paying top dollar to be blown away, we are
determined to leave the show with a satisfied feeling.  Lo and behold it
works!

I mean nothing negative by this at all.  Just observing.
