Just one clarification.  You OBSERVED females with males, but you CONCLUDED
(perhaps correctly, perhaps incorrectly; we'll never know) that the males
brought the females.  Also, even if that was true, how do you know that the
daughters didn't ASK to go (as mine did) or that the girlfriends didn't ask to
go?
