The White City stadium was a familiar London landmark until it was 
demolished in the 1970's (I think that's when it went). It staged dog racing 
mainly - although it had also staged a World Cup game during the 1966 event 
& even some Olympic Games events in 1908.

It's now the site of some BBC studios.
