For starters, I'd ask him questions that I felt have been unanswered. (i.e.
Pete, why aren't you releasing all your demos? What is happening with your
solo career? etc, etc, etc...)

While you don't want to "infringe on his privacy", you can always politely
ask him just that... The worse that can happen is that he'll say "no"...
