Re: Engine light and belt

<evil laughter>

Oh the belt's a fun one, at least on the VR6 :-)

Shouldn't be too bad on a 2.0L (that's what the Trek came with, ya?) but I'm not familiar. I could
give you all sorts of stories about the VR6...

About your check engine light, I HEAR ya. Mine started the same damn thing a couple weeks ago, and I
had the codes pulled... something about a camshaft position sensor error (heh??) and a coolant
sensor error, but no more detail than that. So, I'm going to see if having my cooling system flushed
will help, and see what happens to the codes after that. I don't know what else it could be, all the
temp sensors should be fine and the t-stat has less than 10K on it... Funny thing is the light will
only come on after at least 15 mins of driving, when the oil temp passes 200:F. Weird.

Best of luck with your drive belt, and get those codes checked :-)

Subject: Engine light and belt

Hey guys, I've been reading for a while and now I'd like to comment on a
small light that we all know and love: THE ENGINE LIGHT. Last winter 'my
old friend' came on after I washed my car and I assumed that a sensor
was frozen. It warmed up and everything was fine. Now it's come on again
and it has a bit of an attitude, on one day, off the next. Any
suggestions? I'd be willing to invest in
engine-light-disconnection-research at any time. Secondly, my engine
belt is needing to be replaced. I'll be doing some more investing with
Mr. Bentley later in the week, but is this a fairly easy item to take
care of in your driveway? Cheers.
