In 99.9% sure that all of the OEM roof mounted antennas are amplified and
the amplifier is built into the base of the antenna.  The difference between
the earlier and later ones is the way the amplifier gets its power.  The
earlier ones (up to '95?) had a separate power wire for the amplifier.  The
later ones ('96 on?) send the power through the signal wire itself.  In fact
I was reading a service bulletin than mentioned that in the latest cars ('98
on?) the antenna power can be switched on or off in the radio using the 1551
scan tool.  On the cars that don't have a separate power wire for the
antenna, I think you need to get an antenna power adapter.  Your car
shouldn't, though, so I'd recommend double checking the connections.
