I just had mine fixed recently.  The mechanic told me that there is a switch 
by or on (can't remember) the brake pedal.  Braking cancels the cruise.  The 
switch on mine wasn't installed properly when the alarm yahoos installed an 
alarm.  Since the switch wasn't in the right position it was telling the 
brain that the brake was engaged.
