Re: Quick, easy, and cheap way to kill DRL's...

for what it's worth, i played with this a little bit in the parking garage
today (on my 2000 passat).

not surprisingly, it works. it's really pretty neat...it switches the DRLs
off AND the display lights up on the stereo, climatronic AC, auto tranny,
and the light switch. unfortunately the lights on the speedometer, clock,
etc. don't come on. anyway, it can be kinda hard to find that niche, but
once you've found it, the switch will stay there.

...now what's all this about brake lights not working???

on a really silly note, the first little while i drove without the DRLs on,
i would have sworn the car was performing differently than normal. i
realized how ridiculous it was even then, but it really felt strange. odd...

anyway, i agree that daytime running lights are a pretty good thing, but
i've been looking for a way to get those pretty blue lights without turning
the lights on!

oh, one more question...do you guys think it's safe to just leave the
switch like this, even when the car's off? the backlit displays went off
when i turned the car off, but i couldn't really tell if the transmission
and light switch were still lit up or not (too bright), and since i'm
pretty much a total novice when it comes to cars, i can't tell if it's
pulling power from the battery or not.
