Tranny Question

What is the code tranny in the new MK4 Jetta?

Will it mate up to a VR6 motor? Should be and easy answer, but I don't
know!!!???

I have a chance to buy a new tranny with 1200 miles on it very
inexpensively, but i don't know if i need one; unless of course it DOES
fit;

I know that VW went to cable shifters on the new trannies, but i don't
think that this necessarily means that they will fit the VR6

Any/All help would be greatly appreciated.
