Re: VR6, 300hp, and the 1.8T.

Clearly, that is your opinion.

Is it the best motor to put into a light VW Lupo? I don't think so.
You're best off staying UNDER 1.8L for that engine. For a Polo, I
think a 1.8T is probably the best engine. The VR6 would be too heavy.

For the GTI and the Jetta, the VR6 makes a lot of sense, and that's
why it has dominated the Jetta and GTI for the high-end VWs in the
small sedan and hatchback for almost a decade.

And for a Passat, the V6 would make a much better stock engine than
the VR6, IMO.

If we're going to consider VWAG, instead of just the VW brand, then
the "God" of VWAG motors for consumer cars is either the S4's V6
bi-turbo engine or the S8's bi-turbo V8 engine, which propels both
cars to an impressive 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. I'd like to see a VR6 come
close to that in any chassis that VW builds. The S4 and S8 will do it
much better, with much better class than any conceivable VR6 solution.

And, as far as pure technical wizardry, my money would be on the TDI
V-10, not to mention the Bugatti WR-18, as well as the W-12 engines.
The VR6 is a sweet engine; it's just starting to show its age.
