Re: thoughts on selling

Barrett,

I also have a 1998 Jetta GLX purchased in March of `98. I have 16,000
miles on it, and I've had the following problems:

-BOSE Amp blew a few circuits, it was replaced with one from a new `98. =)

-Driver seat seemed loose (bolts), let the dealer tighten.
-Driver seat rear leather panel came "loose" at the bottom of the seat
where people stick their damn feet and kick your seat, let dealer fix it
-Had some intermiddent stuff with my front driver & passenger windows
(screwy pinch protection caused the windows to retreat from going up, to
go all the way back down if you used the "one-touch" feature - went away,
never came back)
-Squeaky clutch noises, heard it is a common problem, had them lube it
numerous times, keeps returning.
-CD Changer stopped working, had it replaced.

It hasn't been a carefree experience, but the car has been reliable in
terms of getting me where I'm going. I'm extremely anal and tend to be
somewhat neurotic about keeping my car in perfect condition, and my
problems have been very simple fixes. If your dealer is hard to DEAL with,
it can be a whole other story. For most of my ownership of the car, I was
lucky to get great service. Since I moved, I haven't been as lucky...but I
haven't been unlucky either. I also have the 100K/10yr warranty,
bumper-bumper (the add on package), so I don't tend to worry as much.

Good luck to you! If all else fails, I can recommend a good dealer in
California!

-Devin
