96 glx?

Hello Listers...Figured this is the best place to start.	Found beautiful
96 Jetta GLX VR6 (automatic for SO) at a local dealership, black,
leather, <28,000 miles.  Car appears to be in exceptional condition
price is ok.  The problem is that today after a spirited test drive the
check engine light came on.  Car ran excellent.  Salesperson had some
lame excuse.  Went directly to VW Dealer, knowing who the prior owner
was we were able to pull car up on screen.... Check engine light was a
prior problem, ECM was replaced, light came on again.  Some other prob's
with alarm, that was about it.

The big question Buy? or run like hell!!

Other interesting note:  Car is at another foreign dealer, has been on
lot for a while, VW used sales manager said the car has been offered to
him a couple times.  He would be willing to get the car and sell it to
me for less w/ the VW Certified Used Car status.  All input will be
greatly appreciated!
