Here is my two cents.  I have been going to my "local" Jiffy Lube for
the past year.  I have a 97 GLX.  And yes, I know, I had the 2 yr.
deal 24K etc..  But the hassel of the dealership (I have had bad
experiences and the efficiency of getting there at 7 am etc..  That is
another story) was just too much.  I figured either doing myself or
having Jiffy Lube do it was much better.  

Anyway, Jiffy Lube has done an excellent job.  The local mgr and I got
to talking (when he broke the news about not being able to stock my
particular oil filter)  They were knowledgeable and we even chatted
about specific oils. 

Hope that gave you a little insight.
