RE: MT Speed limits (was RE: pre-LI cruise cop encounter)

I grew up in MT and I just got off the phone with my mother (who's still
there). She says that the bill passed the state senate and is off to the
house where is will more than likely pass:( This bill (soon to be law)
blows. Before when the fed. Gov. had the 65mph rule, if you got caught
speeding the ticket read "waste of natural resource", you gave the cop 5
bills and you were on your way. It never hit your insurance, cuz you
weren't speeding, you were wasting resources. Me and all my buddies would
keep a roll of fives in the ash tray just for this purpose. After the fed.
speed limit was repealed, MT had none and you could always get off of the
"safe and prudent" thing- all you had to do was contest it.
We were doing fine till Mercedes had to come over to test drive there new
coupe that people got in a tizzy. The cops set up a speed trap and nailed
twenty of them going over 130MPH each. The story hit the front of every
paper in the state. Now people are pleading the government to do something.
"There going to kill them selves if they go that fast". So what if I kill
my self for going too fast, at least I die enjoying it. The only shame
would be a waste of my beautiful GLX.

75 mph on freeways, $25 fine w/ no record up to 10 over, $40-$100 fine
otherwise.

So what *is* the speed limit in Montana?
