Agree... we paid for the warranty, we should use it. Although the
100,000 mile warranty does not cover everything... (most of the things
people are comlaining about are not covered) it does cover the expensive
drivetrain components. I am a structural engineer in California and if there
is one thing I have learned its that imperfect humans designed this car
and imperfect humans will be the ones fix it. I will put my money on the
mechanic rather than myself.

I am a mechanical engineer who spends plenty of time fixing this and
mending that, but I bought my Jetta because it came with the 100,000 mile
warrantee, and if something is gonna break, I want them to fix it. It's my
first new car, and I don't want to have to touch a thing on it. I paid my
money up front for them to fix it, and if they need to order something new,
or keep it for part of the day, so be it. I'd rather have a new part from the
manufacturer in there, then some part I rigged up to keep something
working. I would imagine that's the same way other people feel, and
that's why we're not diving in there and getting our hands dirty.
