Re: VR6 Shift Points



The deal with shifting is that you want to come back into the revs right
below the peak torque.  The best number for this is about 6200 -
redline, depending on how fast you can shift.  If you shift too low, you
land lower in the revs and build up too much torque and spin the tires,
or the revs bog when the tires hook up.  Shift too high...  well lots of
bad things can happen, depending on your situation.  Bump the rev
limiter, lose to much power, or even worse, shoot a piston through the
hood of your car.

I have yet to determine if power shifting is worth the risk, but I will
let everyone know on friday if it helps my times.  For those of you that
don't know, power shifting is shifting without letting off of the gas. 
Usually amounts to alot of wheel spin, but with sticky tires, may be
benificial.  Oh yeah, it is not the best thing for your car either:)
