Yep, my stock GLX hit 144. Actually I believe this was a topic on the list maybe 6 or 7 months ago. I remember a few other people posting they got it up there too. Since my 144mph run, I have added a chip, new suspension and Pirelli P700Z tires. I'm curious what the chip does to the top end. The Pkwy that I was on is empty a majority of the time, so it is pretty safe to go straight and fast with nobody else around.

All the mags. put the top speed at under 130 -- is this just VW not wanting to publicize how fast the car can really go?  Also, with H-rated tires on a car that can top 140, isn't VW really opening themselves up to potential lawsuits?

On the Wantagh Pkwy here on Long Island I reached 144mph before I ran out of
road. I think I could have gotten a few more mph out of her because the needle
was moving slowly but surely at that point.
