RE: SCARRRYY!!!! (Geo is the man!)

Hmmmmm....

All I have to say is lay off George!
I'm from Virginia Beach, VA. and had a chance to do some
work over in the Los Angeles area for a couple of weeks.
I asked the list if anyone was willing to hook up with
me and let me check out their ride... and guess what,
George was kind enough to get together with me and go
for some ASS-KICKING CANYON RUNS!!! I never knew
I would be able to push a Jetta as hard as I did running
through hair-pin turns at 60mph with his Coil-over set-up.
George allowed me to drive his car for several hours around
the PCH/Agoura Hills area of California and it was a blast.

Well, my point in this story is the fact that when I got
back into my STOCK Jetta, I realized how lousy my suspension
really is. I know George participates in quite a few
canyon runs and other racing events so its obvious he pushes
his car to its limits... often. I imagine he is probably
used to this style of driving... right?

Everyone on this list can confirm that most new aftermarket
suspension set-ups are a HUGE IMPROVEMENT over stock. I've
heard it a thousand times!
Well, just imagine going the other direction... okay!
Or how about putting our stock suspension on a Mazda Miata.

I suppose that if I got into a stock GLX and tried to drive it like I drive
my Neuspeed/Bilstein suspension GLX, that I could get into trouble too. I
take corners *far* more agressively than I did before my suspension.

I guess I could have four accidents in one day if I kept driving like I
did, especially in rainy weather, but after the first incident where I
almost crashed, I would slow down significantly, and start adjusting to the
ride of the car.

So, in short, while I have to say that everyone should back off from
George, and stop giving him a hard time, I do have to ask George, "What
were ya thinkin, man?!?" After the first incident, you have got to adjust a
little to the conditions of the road/car you're in. I'd hate to see you in
a Corolla, baby, because if you think the stock GLX is bad, you're one
accident waiting to happen in a Toyota. ;)

And this is for everyone else on the list: LIGHTEN UP. Sheesh!
