I beleive Doug and Jamie at VW Vortex did some tests and a modded 
1.8T is MUCH faster than a modded GTI/GLX VR6.

Question is how reliable is that 1.8T with all that extra boost?  I
plan to run my VR6 for 200,000+km and I wonder if a modded 1.8T would
last that long.
