Thermostat/fan probs? - update

It's currently 3:15am. I was lying in bed reading when I heard that fan
go off again. I tried to get out there and pop the hood in time, but the
fan only ran for 2 mintues at the most.

When I did get the hood up, I noticed that that metal of the ingine (those
tube looking things towrds the front of the car "below" the VR6) was a
little warm - it would be a good temp for running in the daytime, but
considering that I had gotten home about 5 hours ago, and it was the
middle of the night, it felt a bit warmed than it should be.

Could this be some sort of cold weather fuction or something? Or should I
take it in? And if so, what do I tell them to look for? I just got past
my warrenty (of course - that's when this happens) and am now on the
Wester General extended warrenty that I bought.

Thanks,
John
