I am by no means an expert, but I think it is safe to assume that a Jetta
that has been in a head-on collision is safe to use as the spare-source for
the rear shocks and springs. Likewise, a rear-end collision wreck is a good
source for the front.
In the auto recycler that I go to (Campbell & Nelson in Smokey Point, WA)
leaves most of the parts on the wrecked cars out back anyway, so it's easy
to do a visual inspection and decide from which car you're going to take
which parts.
