I have owned 3 new watercooled VW's, all 3 were WELL out of alignment right off the 
dealers' lots.  None of those times was it caught in the PDI inspection.  One I just lived 
with until getting it done right at a tire joint much later, the 2nd I literally FOUGHT the 
dealer to get fixed (and they didn't get it right when they "tried') and the third one I had 
a mild tiff over when they wanted to send me back to the selling dealer since it's a PDI 
issue (which it is with virtually all makes BTW).  Point is - hey VW, align the freakin' 
cars right at the factory!!  Then we won't have to go through this crap.  And while you're 
at it, make sure the steering wheel is straight!  I think about 95% of new VW's has a 
skewed wheel.  Pathetic.
