Actually, the VR6 doesn't have a distributor in the traditional sense,
It a distributorless ignition system.  But, it does have what is called
a coil pack. Witch is a cluster of individual coils that fire each plug
separately and who's timing is controlled by electronic pickups on the
crank in conjunction with the ECM.

But, yeah, cover THAT when you find it.  The coil pack on your VR6 is
located at the right end of the motor (if your standing in front of the
car with the hood up).  You'll see the plug wires coming out of it.  It
should be self evident.
