But in Crutchfield's defense I have to say a couple of things.  I recently
purchased a CDC635 from Crutchfield for $$279.95. Yes, that's $26 dollars more
than your friends at  http://www.gil.net/~audiotrn/ . But, Crutchfield only
charges $6 for 2 day UPS, they have very knowledgeable tech support available
until 11pm EST seven days a week, they supply the OEM DIN removal tools at no
charge, they provide printed detailed instructions on the dash disassembly and
reassembly, and you can return your purchase for a full refund up to 30 days
after receiving it. Oh, and Crutchfield DOES have the proper CD changer adapter
for the VW Premium Stereo, part # 541VWCLR1 for 15.95 (from return stock). I
think it's 19.95 brand spankin new. But in my opinion there's no difference. Oh
ya, you can buy the CDC635 from return stock as well and save $20 or $30
dollars.  These items have been fully bench test by Crutchfield and carry the
full factory warranty and 30 day return policy.

Oh, buy the way, I returned the CDC635 to Crutchfield and opted for a Blaupunkt
head and changer. Crutchfield's Customer Service was great!  And while I was
installing and testing the CDC635, before returning it, I had a couple of
questions about the adapter. Sitting in my car at about 10pm at night I picked
up my portable phone and called tech support. They answered each of my questions
and offered advise.  I don't know anyone else in the industry that offers this!

To me, cheep two day delivery, an awesome return policy, free OEM DIN removal
tools, printed detailed instructions on the dash disassembly and reassembly, and
the 7-days-a-week tech support are worth the minimal extra cash ($11).

HEY GUYS, if anyone is a DENON fan, Crutchfield has a great deal on the Denon
DCT950R car stereo/CD player, $250, 50% off!!  This looks like an awesome head
unit (review: http://www.carsound.com/reviews/denon.html). It's one of the few
I've seen with RDS (Radio Broadcast Data System).  Why the discount? It seems
that Crutchfield has broken off there relationship with Denon. As a result they
are selling there Denon inventory (1600 units) at ridiculous prices. You can get
the DCT950R and 10 disc CD Changer (DCH520, only 12 left)  for around $500.  Ask
about returned inventory and save even more. I don't think you can find a CD
head unit of the same quality with the same features for anything close to the
