Monday I dropped off my "old" 97 and drove away in a "new" 97.....(the
"old" 97 was a lemon and the BBB granted me a repurchase). Anyway,
there be differences that I like! > The BOSE system sounds nice and
strong - the bass caught me off gaurd cause it had been awhile since I'd
heard a decent car stereo! Interestingly the radio reception isn't as
good as was the Premium stereo here in San Diego (Panasonic vs Clarion
??). > The shift knob has changed to a clear plastic top, a different
knob shape with a more ribbed feel where the stitching is. Like
masturbating with a new "tool" I guess :).
>The trunk liner is much more substantial. The old car had a stoopid
flimsy POS that would slide around, while the new liner is thick, hinged
in the middle and has a groovy strap/loop thingy to pull on to get to the
spare tire.
>The chromed exhaust tips are a good thing. It is very subtle and I can
really only notice the difference when viewing the car from the left
rear side.
Possible bad difference:
I've been reading complaints about chunky and loose transmissions and now
I think I know what people have been talking about. The old transmission
was silky smooth and wouldn't 'catch' like the new one does. But, I
shouldn't bitch cause reverse gear would sometimes actually be 1st gear
and thats the main reason I was granted a new car. Ohhhhh the ironies of
life..... :)
Another thing...It's damn frustrating breaking a new engine in! I've
been hauling ASS in my 'rental' for the last 3 months!!

PS Discount Tire offered $60 per Goodyear GA before 500 miles. They
have Dunlop SP 4000s for $125 each. Good deal??
