     You can order a clarion 6-disk changer from Crutchfield for about $289 
     and it includes the adaptor for the VW harness to the changer.  The 
     '97 were pre-wired for the changer and it is extremely easy to 
     install. Just mount the changer, locate the wire in the trunk and plug 
     it in.  Good luck.  I'm not sure of the part numbers but this topic 
     has been beat to death on the VW.Watercooled news group, go to 
     Dejanews and search for the topic.

Hi GLX fans...
I have a 97 LX and I got it with EVERY OPTION except the CD player. I though 
that it was outrageous to pay THAT much for one. You can get a great 
quality, 6 CD changer, FM coupled SHERWOOD for $205 from DAMARK. 
     
Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket which can plug right into the 
factory stereo and uses its CD controlling capability? I know the factory 
optional one is made by Clarion, but don't know if it is custom made for 
VWs. I mean, can I buy one and hook it up to the existing stereo (and have 
the existing stereo control it!!!) like the factory optional one?
     
I bet it's a bitch to install!
