OK, let me re-explain because there seems to be some confusion.

Drive to a speed, approximately about 30-36mph so that the cruise will
actually engage (as opposed to 20mph when it will not engage in such slow
speeds).

Now that you are going about 30mph, push the clutch in, and move the
shifter into neutral.

You should now be coasting, and if you're on a level surface, right around
30mph.

Now, hit the cruise button. (Be prepared to hit the brake or push in the
clutch to disengage the cruise) The engine will start to rev.

My point was to say "doesn't this sound unusual?"

I was just surprised noone had thought of this. Why would anyone want to
put the car in cruise when the stick was in neutral? Since noone would want
to do this, you'd think the engineers would disable it.

Just my opinion.
