Re: Banks/Mihm

Ditto on observations of Banks and Mihm.

I like Banks a lot. He can get to anywhere he wants on the court no matter who is guarding him, plus less than a handfull of players can keep up with him right now even though he is learning, doesnt posses great court vision (but is improving) and hasnt learned how to change speeds to his advantage. If he come up with a reliable mid to 3pt distance jump shot, plus gains better court vision, I'd hate to be out on an island guarding him. He looks like a hard enough worker that I think he will blossom to be a top 3rd tier point even as early as next year. Depends on him and a new coach. Plus he hawks the ball very well for a first year player. Pretty effective one on one defender and even though he is short rarely gets abused by bigger points.

I like Mihm a lot also, and pray against all hope that Carrol would use him with Blount to better control the interior and start the break via rebounds amd quick outlets rather than only off steals or occasional one man breaks. It is frustrating to see our points blitzing out ahead of the defense only to have to pull up and wait for the troops because our SG and SF have to hit the boards to ensure getting rebounds while McCarty is blitzing and guarding the perimeter on defense from the PF position. Back to Mihm he must be frustrated to see McCarty playing 40 mins a game at the PF spot at his and the Celts expense. No excuse to pout and sulk though and hope that that was a one time incident. Havent heard of him being a problem prior to comming here so maybe it was an isolated thing. I just wish this season were over and already past the draft with a new coach. I see so much potential being let go to seed under this CarrObie interim stint.

One thing from last nite (about only thing) that I liked Carrol doing was to go completely small (he will never try to go big will he?) with Jones out there, did you see his outlet passes? great stuff. He has of late shown me glimpses of what Danny must have seen in him in the first place when signing him. He is athletic and skilled and can play straight up D at the sf spot. He hasnt gotten consistant mins or a role to play but Id like to see more of him...... never happen this year, see what I mean, hoping for next year. Anyways good thing Carrol finally figured out how to defend the pick and roll with about 2 mins to go in the game or the good 1st half would have been wasted.

hoping for the best. Go celts.

Re: Banks - not just confidence, but a genuiune feel for the shot vs just heave and prayer. I was at the game, and you could quite literally see him adjusting as he was in the air after pulling up hard, softening the shot just the right amount to make it.

Mihm was fined. It was in Shira's article. He did also say it was out of character, from frustrations etc and wouldn't happen again. Just shouldn't have happened the first time.

I'm not amused by that stuff, but I don't think he's overbilled except by the extremists. There really is potential worth trying to access there and usually what looks like a fairly willing attitude (to be fair) - I just don't think he knows how to best use what he has and really needs help figuring it out. One good sign last night - his short jump shot looked a lot better than it has since he came here. Not just that it went in, but more smooth and natural.

Banks may have found something using the glass from the side. Looked real
confident and capable of hitting that jumper. If that's the case look out. He
seemed extra ready for this game ball hawking constantly. 7 steals is nothing
to take lightly, should be a clue as what's to come. Maybe he's playing from
instinct instead of trying to emulate Chucky or whoever. The refs seem to let
him have his way also.

Mihm, does not have the resume to tell a coach he's not going in. There should
be a fine at the very least. I think he's showing frustration. He's a
frustrating player, over billed at this point.
