Re: [Celtics' Stuff ] who to protect for the expansion draft?

You're right Charlotte won't refuse that deal, but we also won't offer it.

Why would you give a 1st rounder and cash for them to take Stewart, who will be a FA next summer and thus can be used in a trade deadline deal?

I don't see how Charlotte refuses that deal. But is a 5 million exception
that great for us? If Danny had another deal already lined up, then yes but
Stewart's contract itself has some value since it is expiring. The thing that
bothers me is that we have had trade exceptions in the past and haven't used them
(although smaller). So again, I say this works if Danny had another deal lined
up to use it on.

How do you like the threat that the Cs are going to go for additional money
from Vin? Maybe they are going try to recoup previous wages. They must be
trying to settle or it is time to play hardball....

Charlotte a 1st rounder and up to $3M in cash (which they received from
Detroit in

in the process. That would be sweet.

Charlotte can turn around and let Stewart go and they make $3M cash and also
get a 1st rounder to draft younger, cheaper, and cost controlled talent via
the Rookie scale for the next 3-5 years. Win/win for both teams and tough
luck
for Stewart as there is no way he gets a FA offer anywhere near that kind of
money.
