Re: Baker's relapse - WAIT A MINUTE!!

Stop dreaming about a "technical violation". I have no doubt that Vin is back on the bottle. Surprised that nobody mentioned the Globe article yesterday where Vin was quoted about how well the rehab was going. One day later, he tells us that he has strayed, but he's working to get back on the right path. In other words, he flat out lied yesterday. He's probably lying today. As anybody who has been around them knows, junkies (booze, drugs, gambling, sex, etc.) are the most convincing liars in the world.

Its my understanding that the Cs agreement with Vin is a three strike program. Its unclear to me whether this is strike 1 or strike 2, but unless people start getting tougher with him, there is no question in my mind that there will be a strike 3. Its too bad, but I think we should all stop expecting Vin to turn his life around.

WHOA, hold on! The press release said that Baker was suspended "after
the team was told he didn't comply with his treatment program." The article I
saw also said that the team is barred from giving out details.
He may be drinking. Very Possible. BUT he also might have missed a
test, or skipped a meeting, or not done some other program-related work.
I just think you're being hasty to assume that drinking is the only
possible violation of what sounds like a pretty tightly controlled program. I want
to give him the benefit of the doubt, so will assume his violation is
something other than drinking until I hear otherwise.

Not so surprising to hear about Baker's relapse given the way his play has
dropped off. I know that he's tested frequently ... I wonder if the drinking
was a result or the cause of his general crappiness the last few weeks?
