Blo-bie

Yeah, add me to the long line of celts fans who are nauseated by Obie's piss poor coaching. I can't bear to watch Obie flush what is a very talented team down the toilet. The C's put up 34 3 pointers tonight. That's absurd considering Detroit is not all that big in the middle. Ben Wallace is only good at blocking from the weakside and Mehmet Okur is European which about says it all on his shotblocking skills. There was no reason we could not take it to the hole. Everything became an outside jumpshot, even when the C's were on the fast break, they'd pull up for a 3. And reason would dictate that a nonshooter like Walter would not be allowed to put up 12 3 pointers. That's almost 4 more 3s than Toine took on average per game! Worst of all Obie keeps rehashing the same old excuses - we shot poorly tonight or we got outrebounded and pushed around, or we turned the ball over too much. I find it funny that even the common basketball fan with no coaching experience can see that
the remedy lies on the bench - Mihm, Baker, and Banks but yet Obie can't. At first I thought Waltah was being played so much because the celts were showcasing his talent for a trade, but after watching his performance tonight, playing all these minutes did him more harm than good. Who the heck will take Waltah after this game? who's gonna want a guy who can't rebound, play D, or shoot? I truly think Obie really has no idea of what he is doing. If you think about it, once walker was traded, you could almost foresee O'Brien failing as a coach. When Pitino was here, he funnelled the ball thru Walker and Pierce. And for a while Pitino's offense worked for Obie because the rest of the East degraded and the team had built up chemistry over the years. But when Walker was dealt Obie kept running the same damn isolation schemes and 3 point plays and it's been obvious he cannot adapt. A good coach tailors his offense or game plans to take advantage of the team's strengths and not
force his players to fit into his ideal system. For instance if player A is better in the post than shooting a 3, you don't force player A to stand around the perimeter. Also I found it surprising that Peter May, a veteran Celts writer was in full support of Obie in the paper today citing that people don't give Obie enough credit for all his successes. blah blah, he beat some higher ranked teams to reach the eastern conference finals. I even think that's an overrated accomplishment because Zeke was an even more idiotic coach than Obie who could not beat the celts with a superior team. I mean how dumb do you have to be to put Reggie Miller on Toine. That's like putting Jordan on Shaq. It just makes no sense. Then the Detroit series against Carlisle was overrated as well. the celts were actually better on paper than the pistons and outmatched them in almost every position. Paul was torching Stackhouse, Walker was dusting Cliff robinson and Wallace, and Kenny Anderson
was annihilating Sucky Atkins the whole series. If Obie couldn't have beaten that detroit squad with the team that he had, he deserved to have been fired then. We can only hope that Danny can see the same thing that we can and rid us of Obie as soon as possible. Anyone know if his father in law Dr. Jack Ramsay is available?
