Marbury Trade Analysis

Gotta give the Devil his due. Isiah pulled off a great trade.
He dealt off the equivalent of three first round picks and
cap space for a semi-to-full franchise point guard.
He didn't sacrifice any of his young players and picked up
Hardaway to boot, who's having a good season.

You wonder if Ainge put in a bid for Marbury?
The stumbling block for the Celtics would have been
cap space. Perhaps if Ainge had waited on the Davis
trade or if Vin Baker was in the last year of his contract,
something could have been done.

Oh well, you've got to hand it to Isiah. He got the type of impact player that
I'm sure Ainge will be looking for via a similar deal in the future.

As for Phoenix, they're obviously in full rebuilding mode and expect to
be a heavy hitter in free agency. It's hard to tell where that Knicks draft
pick will be. If Marbury makes a dramatic impact this season, they
can make the playoffs. Vujanic will contend with Barbosa for the
starting PG position, though with lots of good PGs in the upcoming
draft, the Suns could select another one. And Joe Johnson now gets to
prove it or lose it. No excuses anymore for him.
